Kathie McEvers
Watercolorist
Artist Statement:
While developing my art, I enjoy focusing on colors and their values (light, medium, and dark shades of a
color) to create depth and add a 3-dimensional look to a painting. Most of my work comes from images captured
in my photos.
Bio:
West Linn resident Kathie McEvers, a retired teacher, enjoys painting in the challenging medium of watercolors. In college at Southern Oregon University, she enjoyed minoring in art aside from her education major. Over the years her work has been on display at the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, Oswego Hills Winery, Tualatin Art Splash, Sunday Art in the Plaza in Lake Oswego, the South Shore Art Show, Freesia Frameworks Gallery in Lake Oswego, West Linn Public Library and West Linn Starbucks®. In 2005 she received an award at the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts. Her photography also received an award in the 2005 Oregonian Photo Contest featured in the Northwest Garden Section. Kathie’s main subjects include florals, produce, landscapes and portraits of children engaged in memorable childhood activities. Her art was chosen for the fall 2008 Juried Show at the Watercolor Society of Oregon’s fall convention. She has also been juried into exhibition for the Clackamas County Arts Alliance exhibits for 2009.
Kathie is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, the Oregon Society of Artists, and the Three Rivers Artists Guild.
