Artist Statement:
When developing my art, I enjoy focusing on colors and their values (light, medium
and dark shades of a color) to create depth and a 3-
Bio:
West Linn resident, Kathie McEvers, a retired first grade teacher from Oregon
City School District, is enjoying another love, the art of painting watercolors.
In college at Southern Oregon in Ashland she enjoyed taking art classes, drawing
and painting in oils aside from her education major. In the past five years her work
has been on display at the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, Oswego Hills Winery,
Tualatin Art Splash, Sunday Art in the Plaza in Lake Oswego, the North Shore Art
Show and Freesia Frameworks Gallery in Lake Oswego. In June 2005, she received an
award at the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts. She uses her digital camera to capture
images to paint. Her photography also received an award in the 2005 Oregonian Photo
Contest featured in the Northwest Garden Section. Kathie's main subjects include
florals and produce, landscape and children involved in memorable childhood activities.
Kathie's favorite media is watercolors however she also works with mixed-
Kathie is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, the Oregon Society of Artists, and the Three Rivers Artists Guild.
